AAOS to Launch Shoulder & Elbow Registry
The American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) Registry Program will be launching a Shoulder & Elbow Registry (SER) in October. Its official launch will be on October 24, the day before the AAOS Fall Meeting.
The SER will begin collecting total shoulder arthroplasty procedures in 2018. Next year, the SER will collect data on rotator cuff repair and total elbow replacements as well.
The SER will help institutions identify trends in shoulder and elbow data that would have previously not been possible without a national registry. The new registry will help with quality measures for government and payment agencies, and can be used to inform the science and research that informs guidelines and appropriate use criteria.
AJRR participants will be able to subscribe to the shoulder arthroplasty module by executing a brief addendum. The SER onboarding process and data upload method will be similar to the AJRR's. We are working on idenitfying authorized vendors to assist in the data submission process for shoulder and elbow data, just like we have with hip and knee replacement data. Participating institutions will access their SER data through a module in the RegistryInsights™ platform.
SER pricing will be the same as AJRR. However, the first 500 institutions that purchase a subscription to the SER and submit data within 90 days will have their fees waived for the first year.
