AJRR's Integration with AAOS

Published in November 2017

As announced, the AJRR has integrated with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS). AAOS plans to create a national family of clinical data registries for a broad range of orthopaedic conditions and procedures, and the AJRR's integration into the AAOS is a crucial part of it.

Through the development of a central group of orthopaedic registries, AAOS will be able to develop educational programs that address practice and treatment deficiencies, optimally measure performance and value, provide standardized and consistent data, create and recommend informed reimbursement and treatment standards, and continually and collectively improve patient safety, care, and outcomes. User contracts will remain unchanged. The Registry has always maintained a close relationship with the AAOS, and the two organizations have shared a building since the AJRR's inception. AJRR will keep its name, retain its staff, and continue to operate business as usual without interruption. Aspects of the Registry will be enhanced; added resources that will be provided by AAOS will allow AJRR to pursue projects and capabilities that were not possible before. The AJRR is positioned to continue its current success and expand its data collection capacity and platform features.
