National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) Annual Congress
The National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON) 39th Annual Congress took place May 18-21, 2019 at the Hyatt Regency Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia. The Congress objectives were to implement practice changes based on evidence-based practice, professional development, and research in the care of the orthopaedic patient; impact patient outcomes through adoption of best practices and innovation; and contribute to a professional environment that encourages collegiality and networking among participants associated with advancement in orthopaedic nursing education, practice, and research.
Attendees could stop by AAOS Registry Program Booth 507 to learn about how registries can help their site. We provided demos of our technology platform RegistryInsights®, copies of the AJRR 2018 Annual Report, and information on how and why to participate in an AAOS Registry.

Ms. Finney provided an overview of the value of clinical data registries, including how registry data and analyses can be used routinely as a quality tool. This session covered the benefits of national performance benchmarks, the collection of patient-reported outcomes (PROs), and support of quality initiatives like The Joint Commission Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement.
