Blair Fraser is a medical device industry executive with over 29 years International and U.S. experience serving multiple surgical specialties in the medical device sphere. He is currently working at Smith & Nephew. He is a native of the United Kingdom, and was educated in Switzerland and the UK, with a B.Sc. in Botany and Zoology from the University of Bristol. In 2008 Mr. Fraser joined Smith & Nephew, Inc. as Vice President, Medical Education, responsible for medical education and surgeon training activities for the hip and knee reconstruction and trauma businesses.
Following the establishment of a Scientific and Medical Affairs department at Smith & Nephew in 2012, he assumed responsibility for the Scientific Affairs team. The Scientific Affairs group coordinates scientific and clinical development plans to generate the evidence needed to support key product claims and prepares clinical evidence reports for post market surveillance.
In addition he acts as company scientific liaison with medical industry associations, registries and registry societies, and bodies such as NICE, ODEP and MDEpiNet, where he serves on the Stakeholder Engagement and Sustainability committee. He is currently the AdvaMed representative on the steering committee of the International Society of Arthroplasty Registries and is an AdvaMed member on the Board of Directors of the American Joint Replacement Registry.
